Along the DMZ

I have been working since 2023 on a text and photography project on the inter-Korean border.

This personal assignment has taken me to every conceivable place along the Military Demarcation Line, from the remote island of Baengnyeong in the West Sea (known internationnaly as the Yellow Sea) to the village of Goseong, where the land border drawn in 1953 ends in the East Sea (known internationnaly as the Sea of Japan). This trip also took me from the mass “DMZ Tourism” sites near Seoul, where visitors take selfies in front of minefields and fake soldiers before getting back on their buses, to the lesser-known border areas in the middle of the mountains and one step from the demarcation line.

Each place along the border has its own story, most of the time tragic, but not always. I'll do my best to share my journey with you, probably by the end of 2025.

In the meantime, here are some of the images. Enter your email address below to get notified when everything is out.
